Multi-stemmed trees and solitary shrubs
Multi-stemmed trees are grown with multiple stems emerging laterally no higher than 50 cm from the ground. These stems are free from finer branches which makes the stem structure clearly visible. This gives the tree a distinct, characteristic form. These trees are extremely popular due to their natural appearance. A combination of standard and multi-stemmed trees in a garden or town square creates an attractive, balanced look.
A solitary shrub, or tree, is a large shrub or small tree which emanates a particular character. The stem and branches do not follow any particular pattern or rules but are unique to each plant.
