Office garden - Linden

This project is a partial design in an existing garden. A new building (home office) needed a more specific layout to be part of the existing garden, on the one hand, and to create a different atmosphere that maintains a subtle separation between work and private life, on the other. By incorporating vertical elements in the form of trees, a natural balance between garden and architecture is created. The trees soften the dominant character of the building and integrate it into its green surroundings. Through proper planting, they create a recognisable direction of access to the office building and shape a subspace in this garden.

The plantings of Gleditsia triac. ‘Sunburst’ were spontaneously yet regularly planted in the front garden, with the aim of creating recognisability of the entrance to the building. To support the passage from the private garden to the office garden, the compact and dimensionally stable Pinus densiflora ‘Umbraculifera’ was chosen. The Taxodium distichum ‘Nutans’ acts as a prominent solitair in the formal part of the garden as a buffer green to the neighbouring plots.

This project won the second prize of the 1.2.Tree award at the professional fair Green in 2022.

Gleditsia triacanthos ‘Sunburst’ (Honey locust)

Gleditsia triacanthos ‘Sunburst’ is a striking ornamental tree with fresh yellow leaves that add a sunny glow to any garden or street in spring. As the season progresses, the leaves turn to light green, providing a nice contrast. This thornless variety is popular for its airy crown, which offers light shade without being overpowering. Ideal as a solitary or avenue tree, Gleditsia ‘Sunburst’ will bring a radiant accent to your garden.

Pinus densiflora ‘Umbraculifera’ (Japanese Red Pine)

Pinus densiflora ‘Umbraculifera’ is a striking conifer with a broad, flat crown reminiscent of a parasol. Its soft, dark green needles and compact growth make it a real eye-catcher in any garden. Its slow growth makes it perfect for smaller gardens, Japanese gardens or as a solitair in a border composition.

Taxodium distichum ‘Nutans’ (swamp cypress cultivar)

Taxodium distichum ‘Nutans’ is an ornamental, deciduous conifer with upright growth and slightly arching branches. Its soft, fresh green needles turn to warm coppery hues in autumn, making for a beautiful seasonal display. This tree is perfectly suited to moist to wet soils, but also grows well in less swampy conditions.
